As I step into Shinjuku 2.0, my heart races with excitement! The vibrant world sparkles around me like a dream come true. Suddenly, my adorable hologram avatar, Miu, pops into view, cheerfully saying, Okaerinasai! I can’t help but beam and reply, “It feels like coming home!”

As night falls, the glowing Kabukicho gate welcomes me. The air buzzes with laughter from cute girls in fabulous outfits. I spot one girl in a shimmering obsidian kimono that drapes off both shoulders, showcasing her collarbone and a hint of cleavage, sparkling with purple light—a true magical princess!

Nearby, another girl with adorable elf-like ears and cute cat earrings dazzles in a stunning gold bomber jacket that shines in the evening glow. Hologram billboards flash with exciting burlesque shows, and I can’t wait to join my friends, ready for a night full of fun in this enchanting, neon-lit Shinjuku 2.0!

Herbert kwan

the mastermind behind shinjuku hime

Since I was a kid, anything manga, anime, sci-fi, or filled with deep lore was my jam. By age six, I was piloting my VF-1 Valkyrie from the cockpit—my sister’s stroller—wearing a plastic knight helmet and taking out the Zentradi armada with military precision. After an honorable discharge from the U.N. Spacy, life fast-forwarded 20 years to my first job as a game artist at a small Toronto start-up.
That’s when I met Steve. He was always the first one in the studio, and I was always the second. Somehow, this towering white dude and this short Asian guy became lifelong friends, though I honestly don’t remember how.

Fast-forward again to the pandemic. Stuck at home, I rekindled my secret love affair with pixel art. It had always been my mistress—just like a mistress, I never got to showcase her during the day, only in fleeting side projects. NFTs were my chance to finally give her the attention she deserved. My pixel rendition of Batman slapping Robin, The Slappening, even made Reddit’s front page.
Then, one night, Shinjuku 2.0 came to me in a fever dream. I pitched the entire vision to Steve, and without hesitation, he said, “Let’s do it.” And now here we are.

Steve

Master Chief Technician

From a young age, I was captivated by the magic of anime, sci-fi, and fantasy. The blend of artistry, technology, and imaginative storytelling sparked endless adventures—whether battling mechas in my imagination with dice rolls for damage and effects or exploring forests with friends. Video games became my gateway to new worlds, offering an escape, sparking conversations, and fueling friendly (and sometimes intense) competitions.

My competitive spirit and determination to always be “first in, last out” led to incredible opportunities and lifelong connections. One of those was with Herbert Kwan, a kindred spirit I met at a gaming startup. Though our paths diverged, we stayed close, bonding over shared passions for innovation and creativity.

Now, we’re merging that passion with the limitless possibilities of Web3. Welcome to Shinjuku Hime—where we’re bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds to create an ecosystem of magic, creativity, and community. Join us as we explore this new digital frontier and bring the wonder of connection and artistry to life.
